Chicago – October 19, 2026 -- Charter Next Generation (CNG) cut net Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 23% in 2025 versus 2024, according to its 2025 Impact Report, "We Own Impact." The specialty films and material science provider also reported a 190% jump in landfill diversion and a sharp rise in recycled-content use.
CNG lifts post-consumer recycled material use by more than 30%
The company increased its use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) material by more than 30% year over year. The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) recognized CNG as a Recycling Demand Champion. CNG says the increase supports its circular materials strategy.
Landfill diversion reaches 23 million pounds, up 190%
CNG diverted more than 23 million pounds of outbound waste from landfills in 2025, a 190% increase on 2024. The company attributes the rise to expanded zero-waste-to-landfill practices and new acquisitions, so part of the gain reflects a larger operating footprint rather than process improvement alone.
Green-e certificates cover about 50% of electricity use
CNG purchased 188,000 MWh of Green-e Certified renewable energy certificates. That volume represents approximately 50% of the company's electricity consumption.
Employee engagement climbs to 90th percentile in Gallup benchmark
CNG reached the 90th percentile for employee engagement among manufacturing companies in Gallup's manufacturing benchmark, up from the 32nd percentile in 2021. The company is employee-owned, and its Chairman and CEO, Kathy Bolhous, said employee owners take responsibility for impact personally because they have a stake in lasting improvements.
CNG also contributed more than $750,000 to charitable organizations and community initiatives during the year.
Double materiality assessment keeps innovation and circularity in focus
The report incorporates results of CNG's 2025 double materiality assessment, which identified the sustainability issues most relevant to the company and its stakeholders. The assessment reinforced product innovation and circularity as key focus areas.
John Garnett, Senior Vice President of Technical, Sustainability, and Innovation, said CNG continued to invest in material science, expand circular solutions and engineer high-performance films that use resources more efficiently. He said the company is focused on solutions that perform at scale as customer needs and regulations evolve.
