Worcester, Mass. – October 21, 2026 -- CET Energy Solutions has launched as the parent of Commonwealth Electrical Technologies, Horton Electric and NuWave Energy, combining more than 300 employees across six locations in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and West Coast. The private equity-backed platform delivers projects nationwide.
Three acquired and founding businesses form the platform
Commonwealth Electrical Technologies, founded in Massachusetts in 2008, is the original business and keeps its name. Horton Electric, a Connecticut-based electrical contractor acquired in September 2026, also keeps its brand. NuWave Energy, acquired in 2025, operates in Massachusetts, California and Colorado and will move to the CET Energy Solutions name.
The company says growth came organically and through acquisitions that extend its geographic reach and service lines beyond core electrical contracting. It plans further acquisitions and partnerships with established electrical contractors and energy services firms.
Service range spans electrical construction to battery storage
The platform offers electrical construction, energy efficiency, mechanical systems, renewables, battery storage, backup power, and ongoing operations and maintenance. It targets commercial and industrial facilities.
CET cites rising electricity costs, increasing power demand, aging infrastructure and evolving energy regulations as the demand drivers behind the expansion.
Broad Sky Partners backs the consolidation strategy
New York-based Broad Sky Partners, a private equity firm investing in middle-market essential business services companies, backs CET. Managing Director RJ David said the firm invested in Commonwealth Electrical Technologies expecting aging infrastructure, rising power demand and electrification to make skilled electrical and energy services more essential.
CEO John J. Duquette said the company aims to deliver more comprehensive solutions while preserving local relationships and its safety record. The launch also brings a new corporate website.
