Certificate Authority Market to Hit $397 Million by 2031

Hyderabad – – September 11, 2026 -- The global certificate authority market is projected to grow from $232.31 million in 2026 to $397.14 million by 2031, a compound annual growth rate of 11.32%, according to a new report from Mordor Intelligence.

Shorter certificate lifecycles force enterprises toward automated renewal platforms

Reduced certificate validity periods are increasing the frequency of issuance, renewal, replacement and revocation, making manual oversight impractical for large organizations. Enterprises are adopting automated certificate lifecycle platforms integrated with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines to monitor inventories and distribute certificates across cloud, application, API and microservice environments.

Cloud-based PKI adoption accelerates as APIs replace physical infrastructure

Organizations are increasingly managing certificate issuance through APIs, infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment workflows, simplifying lifecycle management across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Vendor lock-in, certificate portability and centralized control concerns remain factors influencing enterprise procurement decisions.

Zero-trust architecture and machine-identity demand drive short-lived certificate rotation

The expansion of containers, APIs, microservices and zero-trust frameworks is pushing demand for platforms capable of dynamically issuing and rotating short-lived certificates. Organizations require tools to discover and monitor certificate inventories, enforce policy, and manage authentication across large volumes of applications, workloads, devices and machine-to-machine connections.

North America leads while Asia-Pacific emerges as fastest-growing region

North America holds the leading market position, supported by mature cybersecurity infrastructure, widespread cloud adoption, zero-trust initiatives and stringent regulatory requirements. Asia-Pacific is expected to register the fastest growth, driven by expanding cloud adoption, digital payments, mobile commerce and government digitalization initiatives across China, India, Japan and South Korea. Europe remains strategically significant as eIDAS 2.0 implementation supports cross-border digital identity and trust services.

Ashish Gautam, Senior Research Manager at Mordor Intelligence, said the research captures the shift toward automated certificate management, cloud-based PKI and growing machine-identity requirements to support informed business decisions in the digital trust landscape.

Related digital-trust markets show parallel double-digit growth

Mordor Intelligence separately forecasts the Enterprise Key Management market to grow from $3.46 billion in 2026 to $9.26 billion by 2031 at a 21.76% CAGR, the Network Encryption market to rise from $5.67 billion to $8.37 billion at 8.12% CAGR, and the Identity Verification market to expand from $15.78 billion to $26.8 billion at 11.18% CAGR over the same period.
