Company advances Phase III trial for recurrent pericarditis treatment
Cardiol's lead candidate, CardiolRx, is being evaluated in the pivotal Phase III MAVERIC trial (NCT06708299) for recurrent pericarditis, following the completed Phase II MAvERIC-Pilot study (NCT05494788). The U.S. FDA has granted Orphan Drug Designation to CardiolRx for pericarditis, including the recurrent form of the disease.
Prior study tested drug in acute myocarditis patients
The completed Phase II ARCHER study (NCT05180240) assessed CardiolRx's safety, tolerability, and efficacy in acute myocarditis, a condition linked to sudden cardiac death in individuals under 35.
Pipeline expands with subcutaneous formulation targeting heart failure costs
Cardiol is also developing CRD-38, a subcutaneously administered formulation for inflammatory heart disease, including heart failure, a condition associated with more than US$30 billion in annual U.S. healthcare costs.
