New York – October 12, 2026 -- Canyon Partners, a $30 billion global alternative investment manager, has appointed Chris Hansen as Partner and Chief Information Officer, tasking him with integrating artificial intelligence and alternative data across its investment platform.
Hansen takes charge of technology strategy and infrastructure from New York
Hansen oversees the firm's technology strategy and infrastructure. His remit covers information technology, business technology, engineering, data architecture, and the integration of AI and alternative data.
He will work with Canyon's investment and operating teams to embed technology and data in investment research, underwriting, portfolio management, and firmwide operations.
Hansen arrives after twelve years at TPG Angelo Gordon
Hansen joins from TPG Angelo Gordon, where he was Managing Director and Head of Product and Application Development. During his twelve-year tenure, he led the modernization of the firm's technology stack, including its cloud migration and the rebuilding of its portfolio analytics platform. He also drove the early adoption of AI and alternative data across the firm.
Before TPG Angelo Gordon, Hansen was Managing Director for Global Markets Electronic Trading Technology at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Canyon ties technology to risk evaluation and opportunity sourcing
Co-Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Kaplan said technology and data are integral to Canyon's investment process, helping teams identify opportunities, evaluate risk, and deliver value for clients. Kaplan said the firm plans to leverage Hansen's expertise across the entire platform.
