Essen – October 29, 2026 -- Hieber's Frische Center, Denns BioMarkt and EURONICS won Gold at the 2026 Deutscher Prospekt Award, which drew 130 corporate entries, the German free-newspaper association BVDA said at its annual conference in Essen.
The association presented the awards before about 170 invited guests. The prize honors mainly printed advertising inserts judged on relevance, design, sensible extension into digital channels and sustainability.
Three Gold winners span regional, food and non-food retail
Hieber's Frische Center won Gold in the Regional category. Denns BioMarkt took Gold in Classic Food, and EURONICS won Gold in Classic Non-Food.
Engelhorn, ALDI Nord and Kölle Zoo take silver placings
In the Regional category, Engelhorn won Silver for "Lifestyle im Quadrat - 135 Jahre Engelhorn", and Bäckerei Behrens took Bronze for "Die Montagstüte". In Classic Food, ALDI Nord won Silver for its "Tiefpreis-Aktion mit Spargarantie" and Kaufland took Bronze for a flyer with a fold-over insert introducing the Kaufland Card XTRA. In Classic Non-Food, Kölle Zoo won Silver for its March 2026 flyer and Blumen Risse took Bronze for "Blütenlust bei Blumen Risse".
Digital extension grows as regional entries stand out
Sebastian Schaeffer, BDZV managing director for free weekly newspapers, described the 2026 field as of consistently high quality. He said the extension of print inserts into digital channels is growing steadily and called the trend evolution rather than revolution.
Schaeffer highlighted the high number of regional submissions. Regional and mid-sized companies use inserts for customer retention, local brand building, information and activation, he said.
The award was first presented in 2021. The 2026 jury comprises Dirk Engel, Katja Heintschel von Heinegg, Babak Kharabi, Ralf Richter, Andreas Riekötter, Thomas Sarnowski, Guido Schneider, Stan Skolnik, Haldun Tuncay and Schaeffer.
