SHERIDAN, WYOMING -- August 27, 2026 -- AusperBio Therapeutics closed a $120 million Series C financing round on Aug. 27, 2026, bringing its total capital raised since 2024 to $360 million. The San Francisco-based biopharmaceutical company will direct proceeds toward Phase 3 registrational work and commercialization readiness for AHB-137, its lead antisense oligonucleotide therapy for chronic hepatitis B. RA Capital Management, L.P. joined the round as a new investor alongside an unnamed lead strategic investor.
Existing backers HanKang Capital, Sherpa Capital, InnoPinnacle Fund, Qiming Venture Partners, YuanBio Venture Capital and CDH Investments also participated. AusperBio described the round as reflecting sustained investor confidence in its oligonucleotide platforms.
AHB-137 Advances Toward Phase 3 Data In China
AHB-137, built on AusperBio's Med-Oligo ASO platform, is designed to suppress hepatitis B surface antigen production, inhibit viral DNA replication and promote immune reactivation. The candidate is currently in a Phase 3 trial in China after completing a global Phase 1 study and multiple Phase 2 studies. AusperBio said it is pursuing a coordinated global development strategy for the drug toward potential commercialization. The company has not disclosed a projected filing date with any regulatory authority.
That trial now sits at the center of the company's near-commercial strategy.
AHB-171 Targets Liver Cells With Au-HALO siRNA Platform
AHB-171 is AusperBio's investigational hepatocyte-targeted siRNA candidate, built on the company's proprietary Au-HALO liver-targeting delivery platform. It is the first clinical candidate developed on that platform and is designed to selectively suppress viral gene expression for sustained antiviral activity. Series C proceeds will fund its continued advancement alongside next-generation combination approaches pairing it with AHB-137.
Chronic Hepatitis B Affects 254 Million People Worldwide
An estimated 254 million people live with chronic hepatitis B globally, according to the World Health Organization.
The disease causes approximately 1.1 million deaths annually, primarily from cirrhosis and liver cancer. Current therapies can suppress viral replication but rarely produce a functional cure, leaving many patients on treatment indefinitely.
Cheng Calls The Round An Inflection Point
Dr. Guofeng Cheng, co-founder and CEO of AusperBio, said the financing represents an important inflection point for the company as it advances AHB-137 toward potential commercialization while developing next-generation CHB therapies. Cheng said the company was pleased to welcome RA Capital as a new investor.
Dr. Chris Yang, co-founder and CSO, said AHB-137 has shown promising clinical activity and could serve as a backbone therapy for functional cure of CHB. Yang said the company's Med-Oligo, Au-HALO and siRNA discovery platforms are designed to work together toward deeper, more durable antiviral responses.
