Porto – October 19, 2026 -- Athena Technology Solutions, a Fremont, California-based Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) implementation specialist, has opened its first European office in Porto with six employees. It plans to reach 20 staff within a year and 100 within five years.
Athena targets five European clients by December fiscal year-end
The company aims to secure at least five clients by the end of its fiscal year in December. Porto will host sales, project delivery, customer support and leadership for the European operation. Sachi Javli, managing director and head of global delivery, leads the unit.
Athena, founded in 2011, has about 200 people in the U.S. and India. It is recruiting project managers, program managers, developers and sales professionals in Portugal and other European markets.
CEO and founder Senthil Ranganathan said MES business happens in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and that Athena needs to be where that business is. He cited Porto's talent, a technology ecosystem that fits its target industries, and proximity to partners.
Porto team serves multi-site manufacturers in semiconductors, electronics and batteries
From Porto, Athena delivers MES selection, implementation, integration and support, plus PLM, ERP and Managed Services. Its customers are large, multi-site, multinational manufacturers in semiconductors, electronics, medical devices, solar, batteries and other high-tech discrete manufacturing.
Athena is a Premier Services Partner of Critical Manufacturing, an Alliance Partner of Siemens on the Opcenter MES platform, and an Authorized Reseller of Twinzo.
FabOrchestrator.AI comes to Europe, backed by Indian delivery centers
Athena will bring FabOrchestrator.AITM, the agentic AI orchestration layer for manufacturing operations it introduced this year, to European manufacturers. Javli said the Porto team, backed by Athena's delivery centers in India, is "fully capable from day one for any project or proposal."
Athena may open a satellite office in Germany as the business grows.
