Research shows AI gains are uneven across task complexity
Counterpart Group cites a Science study by Shakked Noy and Whitney Zhang showing professionals using ChatGPT for writing tasks completed work faster and to a higher standard. A separate Harvard Business School field experiment with Boston Consulting Group consultants found that AI improved speed and quality within the tool's operational limits, but led to more frequent errors on a complex management task that fell outside those limits.
Agency rejects "Human in the Loop" as insufficient for strategic decisions
Dobner argued that the widely used "Human in the Loop" model works for standardized, repeatable processes but fails for strategic and creative decisions, which rarely have a single correct answer to simply approve. Counterpart Group instead promotes a "Human in Charge" principle, positioning human judgment, sector experience and willingness to challenge AI-generated output as the core value proposition of modern marketing consulting.
