Aeon Industrial Puts 10,000+ MERC Fuzing Devices Into Production

Austin, Texas – October 12, 2026 -- Aeon Industrial has placed more than 10,000 of its MERC high-voltage electronic safe-and-arm devices into production, one of several milestones behind its selection to the inaugural 2026 Austin Deep Tech 50.

Aeon wins eight-figure defense contract and Army interceptor selection

The vertically integrated defense manufacturer secured a key eight-figure defense contract in recent weeks. It was also selected for the U.S. Army's interceptor challenge with its layered air and missile defense architecture.

The MERC production order followed successful performance at the Department of War's Drone Dominance initiative. MERC is a low-cost safe-and-arm device that supports time, proximity, and impact fuzing across drones, missiles, and interceptors.

Aeon also delivered ahead of schedule on a complex U.S. Army contract covering development of an all-up weapon system and warhead, including successful live testing.

Cedar Park facility consolidates missile, propulsion and fuzing production

Aeon is expanding production at a new 140,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Cedar Park, Texas, just outside Austin. The site combines missile systems, interceptors, propulsion, fuzing, software, and assembly under one roof. That lets the company build complete weapon systems and critical subsystems at industrial scale for government and industry customers.

Aeon says its vertically integrated model is designed to cut costs and speed production timelines. It targets the U.S. military, allied nations, and defense industry customers.

Zeus missile system targets drones to armored vehicles

Aeon's core portfolio includes Zeus, a lightweight, software-defined tactical missile system built for shoulder-fired use. It can be integrated across ground, air, and maritime platforms. Interchangeable sensors and warheads allow a single system to address threats ranging from drones to armored vehicles. Aeon designed both Zeus and MERC for affordability, scalability, and high-volume production.

Overmatch Ventures and seven VC firms name 50 Austin deep tech companies

Overmatch Ventures organized the Austin Deep Tech 50 with Valor Equity Partners, 8VC, Banner VC, B Capital, Ambition Capital, Ensemble VC, and Trust Ventures. The list recognizes 50 of the region's most promising deep technology companies.

Founder and CEO Naweed Tahmas said the U.S. needs a defense industrial base able to produce advanced weapons at the scale and cost today's threats demand, and that Aeon is building that capability in Austin.
