Adhesion Promoter Market to Hit $8.32B by 2031, MarketsandMarkets Says

Delray Beach, Fla. – September 08, 2026 -- The global adhesion promoter market is projected to grow from $5.97 billion in 2026 to $8.32 billion by 2031, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 6.9%, according to MarketsandMarkets.

Silane chemistry commands 39% of the market on cross-material bonding demand

Silane-based adhesion promoters accounted for a 39.0% value share of the overall market in 2025, the report found. Their capacity to bond organic polymers with inorganic substrates has made them standard across plastics, composites, coatings, rubber, and adhesives, particularly as manufacturers push for lighter, higher-performance materials.

Plastics and composites applications hold the largest 31% end-use share

The plastics & composites segment led all applications with a 31.0% value share in 2025, driven by automotive, construction, electronics, and industrial adoption of glass-fiber reinforced plastics and multi-material systems. Rising electric vehicle production is adding further demand for composite and multi-material bonding solutions, the report noted.

Asia Pacific set to outpace all regions at a 7.5% CAGR

Asia Pacific is projected to record the highest regional CAGR at 7.5% through 2031, underpinned by manufacturing scale in China, India, Japan, and South Korea. The region's chemical manufacturing base, competitive production costs, and raw material availability are cited as structural growth drivers, alongside rising infrastructure and electric vehicle investment.

Investment activity surged from $12 million in 2021 to $890 million in 2023

Deal funding in the adhesion promoter space rose sharply over five years: a single $12 million deal in 2021 gave way to two deals totaling $890 million in 2023. Funding held firm afterward, with a $300 million deal in 2024 and two deals worth a combined $576 million in 2025, reflecting sustained investor interest in specialty adhesion chemistries.

Evonik, BYK, Momentive, Dow, and Wacker lead a market also drawing niche entrants

Evonik Industries AG, BYK, Momentive Performance Materials, Dow, and Wacker Chemie AG were named as the market's leading players based on share and product footprint. Kleberco, Guangzhou Deco Chemical Technology, and Opal Paints Products were identified as emerging players building specialized niche positions. Mergers and acquisitions in the sector are being pursued primarily to expand product portfolios and strengthen regional manufacturing capabilities across plastics, coatings, rubber, adhesives, and metals end markets.
